Description:

Star Wars The Force Awakens Resistance T-70 X-Wing "Poe Dameron's Blue Squadron X-Wing" 1:24 Scale. Made by legendary artist Richard Long and assisted by famed industry artist Mark Worely. This piece was finished by famed artist Dan Grumeretz. The X-Wing has been a crown jewel of movie miniatures since its first appearance onscreen. It was designed by Legendary Artist Colin Cantwell for the amazing Model Makers at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to create for the 1977 movie, STAR WARS. Back then the movie was only known as Star Wars, with the title of the story being added years later in the scrolling words in the beginning of the film as “Ep IV: A New Hope”. Needless to say it was a huge hit with fans all over the world. The filming model designs for Star Wars were second to none that had been made to date for movies, and they created excitement for those who wished they could fly one, or play with one. When the final trilogy was released, an updated X-wing was introduced that was based off of the original Ralph McQuarrie artwork that he did for the original Star Wars. Being very similar to McQuarries design, this new X-Wing was labeled as a T-70 X-Wing Starfighter. In The Force Awakens opening scenes, we find Poe Dameron with his faithful BB-8 Droid, and a beautiful White with Blue Markings T-70 X-Wing. This intrigued all Star Wars fans as the X-Wing is something that is close to the hearts of them all. In 2015, with the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, artist Richard Long began to sculpt the shape of the T-70 X-Wing to be in scale with the Studio Scale X-Wings. This would make it to be in 1/24 scale. Upon finishing much of the project, and having been somewhat funded by Modelers Miniatures & Magic’s Founder, Kurt Kuhn of Kuhn Global, the project was brought to Randy Johnson of Korbanth Sabers and Props, with the master pattern work completed by amazing industry artist Mark Worley, and the very first two 1/24 T-70 X-wings from The Force Awakens were completed by an amazing, legendary artist named Dan Grumeretz. This one (from Blue Squadron), as well as the Black and Orange version (Black One with Booster Engine) are the first two in the world to be replicated in 1/24 scale, and they are both offered in this Auction. This piece is beautiful in its base white paint, with blue stripes and markings upon it. It has a long gray painted canopy, and BB-8 sitting in the droid socket behind the canopy. BB-8 is colored in white with orange highlight stripes around its body. The front of the engines are metallic silver and the wing cannon laser lances are metal tubing. The cockpit is well detailed and has Poe Dameron at its controls. The canopy glass protects the detailed cockpit, and the wings are in a closed position. The weathering was done by using black and rust paints to obtain that battle torn look that makes this great X-Wing as realistic to the original digital model as possible. The many studio scale X-Wing Replicas we offer in this Auction show very well together. This T-70 X-Wing is outstanding as its own display,.. with its Black and Orange companion piece, or with the squadron of 1/24 (studio scale) X-Wing Replicas. Keywords: Collectible; Ref: BD1831
