The barrel, magazine tube, hammer and loading lever have been blued with the receiver, shell-lifter and crescent butt-plate made of solid brass. The left side of the barrel/magazine tube assembly has an attached horse-shoe shaped sling swivel stud that is coupled with a mounted sling swivel on the left side of the buttstock. The wood buttstock is made of hand-rubbed American Black Walnut with an oil finish. Provenance:
  • NAVY ARMS made less than 3,000 Model Henry 1860’s. This 1860 Henry is one of approximately 500 of the original, historical style, standard type rifle with a 24” barrel and chambered in .44-40. The rest were 22” Carbine style rifles with a few in .44 Rimfire and several presentation models. During the Civil War, Henry rifles were purchased, privately, by Union soldiers who said “the Henry could be loaded on Sunday and shot all week long”. Confederate soldiers just referred to it as “that damned Yankee rifle”.

  • The over-all condition is approximately 98%. There is a very minor, light scratch on the top of the brass receiver that will probably “polish out”. The brass furnishings are starting to turn to a beautiful mustard-color patina. The bluing is a deep, dark blue that is highly polished and compliments the brass tones to form a rhapsody of contrast. The barrel bore is pristine. The Black Walnut buttstock is without any distractions.
